Live Reviews

Hardrock Haven
by Derric Miller

"Seventh Calling slides back and forth between Classic Metal and Thrash Metal, and do it with such ease you aren’t always aware what just happened. These guys are tight; their live set sounds exactly like their studio recordings, unless they change it up on purpose. Hearing rabid tracks like “Paid in Blood” and the epic “Beyond (The Wicked Lies)” live was beyond impressive. The title track to the new CD “Epidemic” was another one of those thrash-tinged compositions that made you think that maybe if Metal Church and Megadeth wrote a song together, it’d end up sounding exactly like Seventh Calling..."

Epidemic - 2010

Hardrock Haven
by Justin Gaines

"Epidemic is a very strong, well put-together American heavy metal album. The guitar work is almost straight-up thrash, with lightning riffs worthy of Testament, but there are some powerful solos and just enough melody. The rhythms are absolutely punishing, and result in maximum headbanging..."

Mr. Wolf

"Back in January I gave this Minnesota band’s three song CDEP, Prelude to Madness, an ok review. Well here they are with a new full length and I’m about to eat my past words. Musically this release is what we would’ve called back in the 80s “Metal as Fuck Dude”! Way back at a time in the 80s when NWOBHM was waning and Thrash was just about to explode you had a handful of bands who sounded like SEVENTH CALLING..."

Prelude to Madness (EP) - 2009

Metal to Infinity
by Stefan

My Points: 95 / 100

In the past, MTI co-editors Patrick De Sloover and Officer Nice wrote down their thoughts on Seventh Calling’s previously unleashed efforts “Monuments” and “Excerpts From Deliverance” … pretty high ratings our writers gave these works, totally deserved actually – trademark of Seventh Calling is pure US Power Metal and that’s our way of living basically!

Las Vegas Review
Jason Bracelin

“We’ve heard many opinions from the fans before, (comparing the band to) Vicious Rumors, old Metal Church, Testament and so on. I could see some of those. I would also throw in Priest, Wolf and Dream Evil, just for a mix of where we get our influences. as far as our personal sound, Seventh Calling truly is 100 percent heavy metal.” -Steve Handel/Seventh Calling

Metal Metropolis

"Personally I hear a lot of early Metal Church and Vicious Rumors in their music. Steve Handel certainly reminds me of the late greats, David Wayne and Carl Albert (R.I.P.). However, Seventh Calling doesn't only dwell in the past. So they can just as easily be compared to newer acts, such as Cage and Outworld."

4.0 out of 5 stars
Impressive power/thrash EP, January 14, 2010

'Prelude to Madness is the second EP in as many years from Minneapolis, now located in Las Vegas,-based traditional metal band Seventh Calling. It follows their 2007 full-length debut Monuments and the 2008 EP Excerpts from Deliverance. The band cites Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Testament and Wolf as influences, and that's apparent in their uncomplicated, uncompromised heavy metal sound.'

Monuments - 2007

Stormbringer - Webzine (Austria)
Drifter

‘Pure US-metal! […] Some of the tracks have a very epic colour, are peppered with multiple-vocal layers and some modest keyboards. […] ‘Fight for your life’ is not only fascinating for its dark intro, but also for the intense dynamics of the song itself.’

Sea of Tranquility - Webzine (USA)
Ken Sanford

‘…What we have here is good old fashioned heavy metal, period. When the band lists Judas Priest,
Metal Church and Fates Warning as some of their influences, they aren’t kidding. [...] There is plenty of heavy dual guitar work going on, as band founders and guitarists Lance Lange and Steve Handel work extremely well in tandem. […] Tunes like ‘Silent screams’, ‘Fight for your life’ and ‘Mercyless’ really shine.’

Rock Hard (Germany)
Götz Kühnemund

‘Nothing revolutionary, but solid throughout. Die-hard US-metalfans should give it a listen.’

FFM-Rock - Webzine (Germany)
Martin Bothmann

‘Worth mentioning besides ‘Insanity’, the best track on the cd, is ‘Mercyless’; both songs are extremely versatile with cool guitar leads that instantly stick in the mind. This is outstanding US-power metal.’
